Pigment Restoration
At Chrysalis Skin & Scars, Pigment Restoration is a paramedical micropigmentation treatment designed to address areas of hypopigmentation, color irregularity, and pigment loss resulting from surgical procedures, trauma, inflammatory conditions, or dermatologic disorders.
A healthy skin tone is the result of balanced melanocyte activity within the epidermis. When melanocyte function is disrupted, whether through injury, scar formation, inflammation, or conditions such as vitiligo, the skin may lose its natural chromatic uniformity. While the structural tissue may heal, the absence of pigment can create visible contrast that draws attention to the affected area.
Pigment Restoration works by carefully implanting custom-matched, medical-grade pigments into the superficial dermal layer to harmonize color and reduce visual disparity. Using precise layering techniques informed by undertone analysis and color theory, we create a gradual, natural blend between the affected tissue and surrounding skin.
Each treatment begins with a comprehensive assessment of:
Skin type and Fitzpatrick classification
Stability of the pigment condition
Scar or tissue maturity
Vascularity and healing capacity
Long-term pigment retention potential
For certain conditions, including vitiligo or post-inflammatory pigment loss, the area must be clinically stable before treatment is considered. In some cases, preparatory therapies may be recommended to optimize the tissue environment prior to pigment implantation.
Our approach is conservative and methodical. Pigment is introduced gradually across multiple sessions to allow the skin to respond predictably and to ensure color stability over time. The goal is not to mask, it is to restore tonal continuity in a way that appears physiologic and balanced.
This is not cosmetic tattooing.
It is controlled dermal pigment correction grounded in skin biology.
For many individuals, pigment loss can feel visually isolating. Restoration offers an option to soften contrast and regain a sense of equilibrium in their appearance. At Chrysalis, we approach this work with precision, patience, and respect for both the medical and emotional aspects of skin restoration.
True restoration begins with understanding how the skin heals.
From there, we build balance, one layer at a time.
